Extreme E, the radical new race series which will see electric SUVs compete in extreme environments around the world, has made a series of hires on its Commercial and Operations teams as the championship ramps up internally ahead of its opening season in 2021.

Rachael Moore has joined as Events Manager for the pioneering electric race series. Rachael brings a decade’s worth of experience in delivering top-tier events for some of the biggest sporting brands and properties in the world including the Olympic Torch Celebration for London 2012, FIA World Rallycross at IMG, and most recently the Dakar Rally 2020 Closing Ceremony in Saudi Arabia.

“Extreme E is something that immediately captured my imagination from the second I saw the Odyssey 21 E-SUV at the Dakar Rally earlier this year,” said Rachael. “I’ve worked for a number of global sporting and motor racing events throughout my career to-date but Extreme E’s combination of environmental goals, cutting-edge technology and unique locations that are yet to hold a race of any description was incredibly enticing to me as an events professional.

“We’re encouraged to think collaboratively and outside of the box here – it’s frankly a requirement given we’re breaking so much new ground on a weekly basis – and I am very much looking forward to the challenge of bringing a world-class event to these remote, incredible locations.”

Tom Julius joins the Commercial team as Partnerships Manager, making the move from the GOAT Agency – a pioneering influencer and marketing agency. Tom, who started his career as an intern at Formula E, brings a wealth of experience in leveraging social, digital and influencer tactics to enable partners and sports properties to engage new audiences and increase their fan bases.

Having worked on multi-million-pound campaigns in the rights-holder space with clients such as MLB, UEFA, the ICC and the FA, Tom is well-versed in successfully managing relationships with world-class properties and ensuring the extraction of maximum ROI for partners.

“I am a massive sports fan and fell in love with motorsport having had my eyes opened to electric racing working at Formula E during its inaugural season. It’s been a path I’ve followed ever since. I got to know a lot of the management team here in my time with Formula E, and it’s an honour to be working with Alejandro (Agag) and the rest of the Extreme E team.

“Extreme E is a truly exciting and ambitious new sports brand which is utilising its sporting platform to promote electrification, sustainability and equality. Having such a strong purpose makes it hugely attractive proposition to partners and fans and it’s truly an honour to get to be part of the team that brings it to life.”

Last but not least, Harry Ellard joins the Operations team as Extreme E’s new Catering and Hospitality Manager. Harry, 25, joins from the Silverstone Circuit – where he was the youngest person in its 70 year history to have held the Operations and Hospitality Manager positions.

“I can’t wait to get started,” said Harry. “Delivering a menu of responsibly and sustainably sourced dishes that pays homage to the unique, distinct cuisines of our five race locations which include places as diverse as Greenland, Brazil, Senegal, and Saudi Arabia, is an exciting challenge.

“We’ll be providing something deeply connected to the environments we’re privileged to be racing in whilst being completely sympathetic regarding our footprint. Consideration of the logistics of working in these remote environments, and utilising local producers, ingredients, and workforces will be key deliverables.”

Extreme E, which is due to launch in early 2021, will see electric SUVs competing in extreme locations around the world which have already been damaged or affected by climate and environmental issues.

The five-race global voyage highlights the impact of climate change and human interference in some of the world’s most remote locations and promotes the adoption of electric vehicles to help preserve the environment and protect the planet.

Further announcements from the championship on teams, drivers and partners will be made in the coming weeks and months and more information can be found at www.extreme-e.com.
