Extreme E extends broadcast reach in Russia with Motorsport TV

Extreme E has officially confirmed that Motorsport TV Russia is broadcasting Season 2’s five X Prix, as well as race highlights, review, preview and Magazine shows - in English and Russian - on its linear channel, Motor TV. In addition, audiences in the region can enjoy Extreme E’s full debut season coverage on its digital platform, ru.motorsport.tv.
With its head office in Moscow, Motorsport TV Russia is a subsidiary of global media giant Motorsport Network – the one-stop platform that brings together millions of automotive and motorsport fans from around the world. Its OTT video streaming service allows subscribers to access over 125 series, 1000 live events and upwards of 3000 hours of on-demand content across the entire motorsport spectrum including Extreme E’s sister series, Formula E.
It is well-known that Russia is one of the most vulnerable countries to climate change, but fortunately its interest in electric mobility is currently on the rise. Statistics show that for the second year running, the country has set records for electric car sales that surprisingly even outpace its green-minded Scandinavian neighbours.
In 2020, 95 per cent more electric vehicles were sold in Russia compared to 2019 - due in part to customs duties being eliminated on EV imports as well as general population response to environmental concerns.
Ali Russell, Chief Marketing Officer at Extreme E, said: “Extreme E is delighted to be reaching Russian audiences through Motorsport TV. Russia is a hugely important region for our series and coupled with the fact that there is an increasing interest in the EV sector here, makes me even more pleased to be bringing viewers our unique and thrilling electric racing package.
“By shining a spotlight on the environmental crisis through our sport for purpose series, we hope to not only raise awareness amongst audiences, but also highlight changes that can be made to live a less carbon-intensive lifestyle and protect our planet.”
Ksenia Bortova, Editor-in-Chief at Motorsport TV Russia, said: "Motorsport.tv Russia team is very happy to renew our partnership with Extreme E series for 2022 as the content our partners provide is highly valued by our audience and we constantly receive great reviews on the series. Let's keep it up!"
