Hedda Hosås on developing the groundbreaking Pioneer 25 Extreme H car
Hedda Hosås, who has competed in three of the four Extreme E seasons – taking one podium finish – has been one of the development drivers of the Pioneer 25 and is well placed to detail how the world’s first Extreme H car performs.
In an exclusive interview at the Extreme H unveiling, Hosås outlined the Pioneer 25’s key characteristics, how it differs from the ODYSSEY 21 and how exciting it is for the series to have a brand-new car powered by green hydrogen.
It's been an absolute privilege to be a development driver for Extreme H. The championship's commitment to ensuring equal engineering input from both female and male athletes is a powerful statement about its values.
Driving the Pioneer 25, the world's first Extreme H car, has been an exhilarating experience. This car is a significant evolution from the previous models, with many improvements based on lessons learned from three seasons of Extreme E. The most noticeable change is the throttle response, which has been enhanced significantly, making it incredibly exciting for any driver behind the wheel.
Our testing has focused on both reliability and performance. The goal has been to improve on what we've raced before and evolve the championship. We've worked on numerous aspects, including seating position and visibility, to ensure the racing experience is even more thrilling.
The handling and drivability of the Pioneer 25 are very impressive. It's remarkable to see such advancements in an all-new car, which speaks volumes about the technology and engineering that have gone into its development.
Being chosen to develop the world's first Extreme H car has been an honour. This championship is unique, and having the opportunity to contribute to such groundbreaking technology is incredibly exciting. With three years of racing the ODYSSEY 21 under my belt, I've been able to bring valuable experience and insights as a female driver to the testing programme.
The journey of testing and refining the Pioneer 25 has been rewarding. The improvements we've made promise to make the racing even more competitive and enjoyable. I can't wait to see how these advancements will transform the racing experience and help showcase the potential of hydrogen technology in motorsport.
