Extreme E announces Neat Burger as Official Plant-based Partner
Extreme E, the new electric off-road motor racing championship, is pleased to announce that Neat Burger is to become the Official Plant-based Partner to the purpose driven sporting series.
Neat Burger is the world’s first plant-based sustainable burger chain and is backed by six-time FIA Formula One World Champion, Lewis Hamilton, in collaboration with hospitality organisation, The Cream Group, and UNICEF Ambassador and early backer of Beyond Meat, Tommaso Chiabra. Neat Burger offers a menu that appeals to not only those who follow plant-based diets, but any individuals, meat-eaters included, who want to eat delicious meat-free dishes that are more sustainable, healthier and ethical.
Extreme E, starting early 2021, is a sport for purpose. The series will visit five remote locations; arctic, desert, rainforest, glacier, and coastal; which are already damaged or severely under threat of climate change from a range of serious issues including melting ice caps, deforestation, desertification and rising sea levels, which are all impacted by climate change and human influences.
As well as promoting the benefits of electric vehicle and clean mobility technology, Extreme E aims to use its sporting platform to promote everyday solutions society can all take to help reverse the effects of climate change on the planet.
Alejandro Agag, Founder and CEO at Extreme E, commented: “It’s a little different for a motorsport series to have a plant-based partner but as we look to create a sport for purpose it is important to consider all the areas that impact how sustainable and environmentally friendly our championship is, and our food choices play a key role.
“Neat Burger” shares the same values as Extreme E in terms of environmental wellbeing and promoting solutions for our planet, and we certainly believe it’s important for us all to acknowledge that what we eat is having a real impact on our planet. I’m delighted we will be serving food on our race sites that aligns so well to our values of being better for the earth.”
Stasi Nychas, Co-Founder and Head of Operations at Neat Burger commented: “We are delighted to team up with Extreme E as its official Plant-based Partner ahead of the launch of its 2021 championship. As the world’s first plant-based sustainable burger chain, we are committed to championing environmental sustainability and playing our part in positively impacting the environment. Therefore, we are proud to have partnered with such a like-minded brand in Extreme E, whose team is dedicated to spreading awareness and promoting solutions to climate change and other serious environmental issues.”
As well as serving its plant-based dishes on location, Neat Burger is developing a dedicated burger for each Extreme E race, which will be tailored to the unique flavours and heritage of each host country. This special edition menu, which will be revealed in coming months, will be available for order and delivery from Neat Burger restaurants each month throughout Season 1 of the championship.
In addition to producing planet-friendly plant-based meal choices, Neat Burger recently partnered with Deliveroo to deliver free meals to frontline NHS workers who have been working tirelessly to help people affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Neat Burger, in association with Beyond Meat, also works with Cornwall’s The Eden Project, and plants one tree for every burger sold.
Neat Burger opened its first site in September 2019, just off Regent Street in London, and is also set to open its second dine-in outlet at Camden Market this year, with plans for global expansion across Europe, the US and Middle East already in place.
