Extreme E, the revolutionary electric off-road motor racing series, has confirmed a broadcast partnership with Radiodiffusion Télévision Sénégalaise (RTS).

The three-year partnership means the five-race global odyssey, which starts in 2021, will be shown on television screens across Senegal, a particularly important country for Extreme E as it hosts one of the race events next year.

As well as hosting an Extreme E X Prix Race, Senegal will also be a focal point for highlighting environmental issues through Extreme E’s Legacy Programme, which will see one million mangrove trees planted in the West African nation alongside Oceanium, a locally operated NGO.

Ali Russell, Chief Marketing Officer at Extreme E, said: “RTS is another really important broadcast partner for us, particularly as we are racing in Senegal. It provides a real opportunity to show the Senegalese people some really exciting racing, whilst also highlighting and sharing some important information about climate issues and the positive solutions we can all take as we look to the future.

“We have gained a lot of momentum with broadcast partnerships and when we start racing early next year the vast majority of the public will be able to view our exciting championship from the comfort of their own homes. As a sport taking place behind closed doors to reduce our environmental impact, it is imperative we bring the racing action, plus our sustainability endeavours to the world to promote and encourage change.”

Alongside RTS, Extreme E will also be broadcast on BBC (UK), FOX Sports (United States, Canada and the Caribbean), FOX Sports Asia (Southeast Asia), FOX Sports Australia, Mediaset (Italy), Sony India (Indian subcontinent), TVNZ (New Zealand), RTM (Malaysia), Dubai Sports (Middle East), RDS (Canada), China Sports Zhibo.tv (China), RTL 7 (The Netherlands), ORF (Austria) and BTRC (Belarus).

Further sporting, broadcast and partnership announcements will follow in the coming weeks as Extreme E builds towards its 2021 start-date.
