Extreme E and Velocity Experience Ltd paving future for virtual hybrid event solutions

Extreme E, the new electric off-road racing series, has announced that it is working with Velocity Experience Ltd to develop innovative plans for presenting its key events, with a focus on virtual and immersive experience.
Velocity Experience Ltd, live event and brand experience specialists across motorsport, has been Extreme E’s chosen live event partner since the series was launched onboard the RMS St. Helena in London in January 2019. The Velocity team produced the series launch and other key Extreme E media and fan events, including the Goodwood Festival of Speed car launch and the Autosport International fan exhibition.
Together with Extreme E, the Velocity team is developing innovative plans for touring race experiences and producing new ways and different approaches to hospitality as well as planning for the Extreme E Team’s launch coming up later in the year.
Ali Russell, Chief Marketing Officer at Extreme E, said: “I’m extremely proud to partner with Velocity Experience as our key live event partner, working together on a more sustainable and environmentally focused event solution and pushing forward innovative thinking through ground-breaking virtual technologies around V+Live* and V+Social**.
“This shift to online events is not just a COVID time strategy. These solutions will enable our revolutionary electric SUV off-road racing series to reach increased levels of virtual and digital engagements with our growing media and fan bases, using methods which more closely align with our guiding principles. I’m very grateful to be able to draw on Velocity’s wide range of experiences in this field and look forward to going live together.”
David Coulthard, former F1 driver and CEO of Velocity Experience, said: “This is an exciting partnership for Velocity Experience as we build an even stronger relationship with Extreme E and are getting closer towards the inaugural season start in 2021. It is important to focus on the future of event solutions and really drive a new way of watching and engaging around motorsport, making the championship as accessible as possible for all of our fans.”
Extreme E will see its competitors race across five formidable environments, all of which have suffered at the hands of climate change or human interference. The series is set to revolutionise motorsport and entertainment as it showcases E-SUV innovation and performance, while raising awareness of environmental pressures and inspiring action.
Extreme E teams will reveal their livery designs via a virtual showcase in September. Group testing then gets underway in December 2020 before teams board Extreme E’s floating paddock - the RMS St. Helena - ahead of the opening race in early 2021.
