St. Helena arrives in Chile ahead of season finale

She is used to transport the championship’s freight and infrastructure, including vehicles, to the nearest port to each of its race locations, minimising Extreme E’s emissions profile as well as facilitating scientific research through an on-board laboratory.

The St. Helena travelled west for the South American finale, travelling out of Europe following the last round of the championship, Island X Prix II (16-17 September), in Sardinia and through the Panama Canal to reach its final destination in Chile.

Upon arrival in Chile, the crew will spend the first few days unloading all of the freight on board as preparations and anticipation builds for the season closer.

Alejandro Agag, Founder and CEO of Extreme E, said: “The arrival of the St. Helena into Chile marks a pivotal milestone in our preparations for the Antofagasta Minerals Copper X Prix, and the conclusion of what has been a thrilling season.

"Chile was a brilliant host last year and we are delighted to be returning to the Atacama Desert for a thrilling climax to the campaign, where five teams are still in contention to win the championship in South America.

“We look forward to working with Antofagasta Minerals once again to use our platform to tell this important story in an informative and insightful manner, and ultimately deliver more gripping race action."

The Antofagasta Minerals Copper X Prix is the fifth and final round of Extreme E Season 3. The championship standings are led by ACCIONA | SAINZ XE Team, however the Spanish outfit are swiftly followed by Rosberg X Racing and Veloce Racing. This is the closest Extreme E title battle in the series’ history, with No. 99 GMC HUMMER EV Chip Ganassi Racing and last year’s champions X44 Vida Carbon Racing also in contention.

The crowning of the 2023 champions will be live across ITV and STV in the UK, while outside of the UK please visit here for broadcaster details.
